Environmental Design (BA/BS)

The College of Design at the University of Oregon provides undergraduate students with a design school experience supported by the resources and benefits of a large research university.

The Environmental Design program is a multidisciplinary BA/BS focusing on visual and spatial design skills applied to the context of environmental sustainability. This degree combines coursework from landscape architecture; architecture, interior architecture, planning, public policy, art, product design, and historic preservation.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Critical Thinking: Competency in understanding and deploying analytical tools used in the practice of Environmental Design; Critically analyze the complex interrelationships that exist between people and the environment; Adapt and apply an understanding of environmental design to address new global challenges, like climate change, urbanization, and transnational migration
  • Content Knowledge: Understand the range of design and building solutions to environmental problems and changing climate; -Describe, explain, and apply basic knowledge of a professional concentration area that maps onto a real-world career objective.
  • Communication: demonstrate effective communication using graphic and language tools related to track; Use knowledge and skills to develop and advocate for informed, appropriate action to solve complex problems in the built and natural environment
